Meet Ben Kemp
After Effects Cloud was founded by Ben Kemp, an IT professional, digital creator, educator, and technology enthusiast with approximately four decades of experience working with computers, software, and digital technology.
Ben’s career began long before today’s creative applications, cloud platforms, artificial intelligence, and online publishing became part of everyday life. Over the years, he has worked across technical engineering, software development, IT consulting, project leadership, marketing, sales, multimedia, and digital content creation.
That long journey through technology eventually led to a growing interest in helping other people understand and use powerful creative software.
After Effects Cloud is part of that journey.

From IT to Digital Creativity
Ben’s professional career spans approximately 40 years in information technology.
During that time, he has worked with technologies ranging from early programming languages and computer systems to modern Windows environments, enterprise infrastructure, web technologies, cloud platforms, and artificial intelligence.
His roles have included technical engineer, programmer, project leader, consultant, IT specialist, marketer, and multimedia creator.
But technology has never been interesting simply because it is technology.
What makes technology valuable is what people can create with it.
That philosophy eventually brought Ben deeper into multimedia, video production, creative software, and the Adobe ecosystem.
Why After Effects Cloud Exists
Adobe After Effects is an extraordinarily capable application for motion design and visual effects. Adobe itself describes After Effects as an industry-standard application used by motion designers, graphic designers, and video editors for creating sophisticated motion graphics and visual effects.
That capability also means there is a great deal to learn.
Expressions, keyframes, masks, tracking, compositing, transitions, typography, effects, animation, 3D, rendering, plugins, performance optimization, and increasingly AI-assisted creative workflows can make After Effects seem overwhelming—particularly when you’re getting started.
After Effects Cloud was created to make that knowledge easier to find, understand, and apply.
The goal is straightforward:
Help creators get more out of Adobe After Effects through practical tutorials, explanations, guides, and continually updated learning resources.
Whether you are opening After Effects for the first time or looking for a specific technique to improve an existing project, After Effects Cloud aims to provide useful information that gets you closer to the result you want.
Learning Through Practical Examples
Ben believes that one of the best ways to understand software is by actually using it.
For that reason, After Effects Cloud focuses heavily on practical subjects.
The site covers areas such as motion graphics, animation, visual effects, transitions, text animation, compositing, expressions, keyframes, masks, tracking, 3D workflows, rendering, performance, plugins, workflow optimization, and new After Effects capabilities.
As After Effects evolves, so will the subjects covered here.
Adobe continues to develop After Effects across areas including animation, effects, 3D, compositing, performance, collaboration, and integration with other Creative Cloud applications.
After Effects Cloud therefore isn’t intended to become a static collection of old tutorials.
The ambition is to build an ever-growing After Effects knowledge resource.
More Than After Effects Tutorials
While tutorials are at the heart of the website, After Effects Cloud is intended to answer a much broader range of questions.
Visitors will find guides covering how After Effects works, explanations of individual tools and effects, workflow recommendations, troubleshooting information, feature updates, comparisons, system requirements, performance optimization, Creative Cloud integration, and emerging AI-assisted creative workflows.
The objective is to cover the complete journey:
Discover → Learn → Create → Troubleshoot → Improve → Master
Over time, After Effects Cloud aims to become a resource that creators can return to whenever they encounter a new challenge in After Effects.
Four Decades of Technology—and Still Learning
One lesson from spending approximately 40 years around technology is that there is always something new to learn.
Programming changed.
Computers changed.
The Internet changed everything.
Cloud computing changed it again.
And artificial intelligence is now changing how people interact with software and how digital content is created.
Creative software is undergoing the same transformation.
Rather than viewing these changes as a reason to stop learning, Ben sees them as exactly the opposite.
They provide another reason to keep experimenting, creating, documenting, and sharing what we discover.
After Effects Cloud reflects that philosophy.
Independent and Transparent
After Effects Cloud is an independent educational website.
After Effects is an Adobe product, and Adobe describes it as software for creating motion graphics, animation, compositing, and visual effects.
After Effects Cloud is not Adobe and should not be interpreted as an official Adobe website.
The website may also contain affiliate links. If a visitor purchases a product through certain links on the website, After Effects Cloud may receive a commission. This helps support the continued creation, maintenance, and expansion of the site’s educational content.
Affiliate relationships do not change the objective of the site: to publish useful information that helps visitors understand After Effects and make informed decisions.
The Future of After Effects Cloud
After Effects Cloud started as a place for sharing knowledge about Adobe After Effects, but the long-term vision is considerably larger.
The goal is to build a comprehensive learning library covering the enormous ecosystem surrounding After Effects—from fundamental animation techniques to sophisticated motion graphics, visual effects, automation, expressions, 3D workflows, Creative Cloud integration, and the new generation of AI-assisted creative tools.
There will always be another technique to explore.
Another effect to understand.
Another workflow to improve.
And another new After Effects feature to learn.
That is what makes creative technology interesting.
Welcome to After Effects Cloud
Whether you are a beginner learning your first keyframes, a content creator trying to improve your videos, a designer moving into motion graphics, or an experienced After Effects user searching for a particular technique, I hope you find something useful here.
After approximately four decades working with technology, I’m still fascinated by what software enables us to create—and I’m still learning.
After Effects Cloud is where I share that journey.
